Campus Health at IU Indianapolis
Fall 2024
Public Relations Plan
Two Media Exposure Ideas
1. Training 100 Student Ambassadors to Spread the Word
2. Partner with the Health and Wellness Promotion at the Know your status events
Our first idea is to bring in 100 student ambassadors from all areas of campus life to help promote the contraceptive vending machine. By including students from different majors and backgrounds, and especially orientation leaders who already connect with incoming students, we’ll make sure this information reaches as many people as possible. Since students usually feel more comfortable talking to other students, this approach will normalize conversations about health resources on campus. This idea works for a few reasons. First, students naturally influence each other, and ambassadors sharing honest information about the vending machine can break down any stigmas or misunderstandings. Additionally, ambassadors would be active across campus, so information would spread quickly and consistently. Students would be hearing about the resource from people they interact with everyday and trust and trust. This creates a supportive campus atmosphere where students feel more comfortable asking questions and taking charge of their health.

Student participating in a Know Your Status event
Our second idea is to partner with the Health and Wellness Promotion Office on the Know Your status event that happens the first Thursday of each month. We’ll offer students free health products from our vending machine and other services we provide. By giving away free products and providing easy access to information, we’ll attract students who might otherwise be hesitant or unaware of these services. This approach will help build a culture of openness and support on campus. Offering free resources shows that Campus Health is here to support students, not judge them. Regular monthly events also make health and wellness a visible part of campus life, so students are reminded about these resources consistently. Working with the Health and Wellness Promotion Office will give us added credibility and broaden our reach. Overall, these two PR ideas are about creating a positive and welcoming environment around campus health resources. By involving student ambassadors and building partnerships, Campus Health can help students feel comfortable seeking the information and support they need.
